Our Story

Saminah was founded on a simple belief: when people come together with compassion and purpose, they can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Our journey began by supporting communities in Sri Lanka, the homeland that shaped our roots and remains close to our hearts. Over the years, we have organized grocery distributions for families in need, collected and provided school supplies to children, and mobilized humanitarian relief efforts during times of crisis.

Most recently, in response to Cyclone Ditwah, we coordinated the collection and shipment of 38 boxes of essential supplies, including clothing, blankets, school materials, hygiene products, and other necessities, to support affected communities. These efforts were made possible through the generosity of friends, family, volunteers, and supporters who shared our desire to help those facing hardship.

What began as a commitment to serve the communities of our heritage has grown into a broader vision. As our family has established roots and raised our children in Southern California, we have become increasingly passionate about serving the community we call home while continuing to support needs around the world.

Today, Saminah exists to bridge local and global needs through compassion, partnership, and practical action. Whether supporting a family down the street or responding to challenges across the world, we believe every act of kindness has the power to create lasting impact.

What began as helping people from our roots has become a calling to serve wherever there is need. As parents raising our children in Southern California, we are passionate about investing in the communities that have shaped our lives while continuing to support those across the globe. We believe compassion knows no borders, and we are honored to play a small part in bringing hope, dignity, and practical support to those who need it most.
